Project Description

BIBAs, The Ballroom at
Blackpool Tower

The Be Inspired Business Awards, the BIBAs, is Lancashire’s largest and longest running business awards programme. Held in the prestigious Tower Ballroom this event commands elegance. With over 900 guests the atmosphere is electric with huge anticipation for the awards part of the evening.

With guests seated across the main floor and two balconies ensuring that all guests have a view of a screen is imperative. We installed a 6.3m x 3.4m 3mm pitch LED screen for the main visuals and two 1.1m x 4.6m 3mm pitch LED screens for additional graphics but most importantly for the BIBA statue which is the award winners are given.

We designed sleek graphics incorporating the black and gold branding of the event which showcased the event sponsors, nominees and winners.  Creating a 3D animation of the BIBA statue and using our motion graphics skills we brought the statue to life, the animation performed the famous BIBA bend once a winner was announced and rotated and sparkled throughout the evening. We also worked diligently to scale all of the main screen graphics to the ratio for the outer screens giving guests maximum viewing options.

The lighting played a huge part in the evening and we rigged over 50 moving lights including Robe Mega Pointe’s, Robe 100’s, Robe 600’s and Claypacky Sharpies. Once the final winner was announced for the ‘Lancastrian of the Year’ award all of the winners were invited back on stage and we orchestrated a scenic lighting show to the clients song choice.

The audio installed was DB Line array system which we then adapted to technical requirements for the headline entertainment – Jason Donovan. Following his performance we set up Jo Lloyd from Smooth Radio to play the guests into the early hours.
